Important Instructions
1. All quilt Backing and Batting must be 4” larger than quilt top on all four sides. Backing and batting should be the same size. If using your own packaged batting, lightly press or smooth out in the dryer, and trim to be the same size as the Backing.
2. It is important that the top, backing, and batting are squared up. If you are accurate with this step, puckers, gathers and twists can be avoided on your quilt.
3. Do not cut scallop borders. Mark the scallops with a wash out pen for appropriate quilting, but do not cut the scallop until after the quilting is finished and returned to you.

4. Do not baste quilt layers together. Each layer is mounted to the frame separately.
5. Clearly mark on your quilt top and backing where the top and bottom are for orientation. (Some picture patterns may be upside down if quilt has a top/bottom orientation that is not clearly marked.)

Following completion of quilting and notification, if payment in full has not been received within six (6) months, quilted item becomes the property of Karen’s Longarm Quilting Services. No refund will be given.
* Batting Facts and Figures
When planning your quilt top, if you plan to have your quilt longarm quilted, purchase batting that will add 8” beyond the finished size of the quilt top on the length and the width. For example, for a finished quilt top that measures 54” x 64”, the batting should be at least 62” x 76”.

For example, if your quilt top was meant to be for a crib, but measures 45”x60” you will need to purchase batting for the next size larger, Twin Size 72” x 90”. Crib Size batting may cost $7.99, while Twin Size batting may cost $16.99. Or...you may purchase your batting by the square inch from Karen for ½ Cent per square inch (length x width) of your quilt top, which would cost you (45”x60” = 2700 square inches x .005 = $13.50)
